Both/And approach
My mission is to support athletes in embracing their process to elevate their performance, wellbeing and enjoyment. Performance gains to not have to come at the expense of wellbeing; we don’t have to choose between the two. My coaching approach embraces an abundance (“both/and”) rather than scarcity (“either/or”) view of each athlete’s unique performance process. Through our collaborative work, athletes build the capacity to meaningfully reflect, recognize where they have choice, and courageously act in ways that serve them given how they define success. We co-create a plan that leverages your strengths and meets your needs using science-based strategies.

My both/and approach is rooted in 3 core beliefs:

-
Genuine care for the whole person
I get to know and genuinely care about athletes as people first and then performers. I want athletes to feel seen, heard, respected, and valued.
I guide athletes to explore how mental skills and leadership development can serve them in sport and other performance areas (e.g., school).

2. Accept where we are, to free ourselves up to get to where we want to be
Rather than make difficult thoughts/feelings go away, I help athletes explore their performance experience with curiosity and non-judgment.
With sharper awareness, athletes can move through rather than get stuck in uncomfortable thoughts/feelings— recognizing that they are more than these aspects of their experience. They can then choose to act in ways that serve them.

3. social support & sense of belonging is vital for performance and wellbeing
Athletes do not perform in a vacuum. They are surrounded by teammates, coaches, caregivers, and aspect of their sport environment.
I take seriously the adage,“When a flower doesn't bloom, you fix the environment in which it grows, not the flower.” I help athletes identify/strengthen sources of social support in/out of sport, and attend to how identity dynamics can impact how athletes show up.
